By setting up relationships with other hoteliers and cross selling hotel rooms you actually help to benefit by capturing guests at the point of heightened interest. They have decided to stay at your hotel, they have searched availability of rooms and are now faced with there being no availability for the dates they have selected.
You and your alliance (other hotels you refer business to) present a list of hotel rooms which are available in hotels you work with in the alliance. The guest is likely to consider placing a booking upon your recommendation as they are committed to booking and you have conveniently given them choices.
By working as an alliance, your hotel will have a route to sell rooms when another members can supply a room.
